The HA
Paradox
It seems like many of my conversations go like this:
"So-and-so was telling me about all this cool stuff your house can
do."
"You mean home automation."
"Yeah, like, what can it do?"
"Well, for example when I watch a movie I can press a button on my
remote and the lights dim."
[Insert witty comment about how lazy you have to be not to flip a switch.]
They don't understand that it took hours, maybe even days, to setup
that button on the remote to turn the lights off. It's not about being too
lazy to stand up and turn off the lights. It's all about the challenge of
making it all work.
Many home automation projects save time in the long run. Most of them
don't.
